My ex-girlfriends mother, Susan first told me about the power of papaya for the skin. Mrs. Susan is 50 years old but you can hardly tell she is the mother of my ex. Am still great friends with the family and most times I spend time with her sons playing mortal combat. Been surrounded by lots of beautiful women who are strong advocate of natural beauty, made decide to take a thorough approach on the Beauty Secrets of Papaya. It’s been close to 3 months now, since I started using papaya. I must say the results are pretty obvious. Papaya is an excellent source of beta-carotene, filled with powerful enzymes and phyto-chemicals that are good for your skin. It is also a great source of alpha-hydroxy acids, which exfoliates the skin and get rid of dark, dead skin cells. Papaya is rich in the enzyme papain, papain is an enzyme that helps in skin-lightening and reducing blemishes and acne scars. When consumed enriches the body with antioxidant, vitamin A, C and E which make your skin tight.

An alternatively is to make a more robust mask with honey, papaya and lemon. These ingredient contains antibacterial properties which kills the acne causing bacteria. The honey available in the mask helps hydrate, exfoliate and soften your skin while preserving its moisture. Honey has antibacterial properties which starves acne causing bacteria and evens out any form of discolorations. The lemon acts as a natural astringent, which helps tighten pores and kill germs on the skin surface.

You need:

  • ¼ ripe papaya
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

Directions: Using a blender blend soft papaya into a smooth consistent paste. Add honey and lemon juice into the puree. Wash your fingers properly and use them to apply the paste on a clean face. Let it sit on your face for about 20 minutes. Then, gently loosen the mask with warm water before washing it off with cold. Pat your face dry and apply your favorite moisturizer. A few suggest I can offer to make this mask more effective is to do a facial steaming before applying the mask. Doing this will allow the mask penetrate deeply into your skin cells. Always go for raw organic honey if you want to get best results. Also make sure that the lemon in use is fresh squeezed organic lemon not pasteurized.


Papaya, Cucumber Banana Facial Mask

I love to always tryout new things and see what works the best. I have been using the cucumber and banana facial mask separately but this time I decided to go wild and combine it with papaya and the result was fantastic. Cucumber helps hydrate, moisturize and cleanses the skin. Its skin lightening property helps clear blemishes and acne scars. When used as a mask helps relieves inflamed acne and sunburn. Bana on the other hand helps reduce wrinkles. It also promotes glowing and vibrant skin – and play a huge role in hydrating your skin.

You need:

  • ¼ ripe papaya
  • ¼ cucumber
  • ½ banana
  • Blender

Directions: You must have a blender before starting this mask. Firstly, peel all the ingredients and blend them all together to get a consistent puree. Do a facial steaming, this will allow your face absorb the mask better. Wash for hands properly and gently apply the mask on your face. Let the mask sit for about 20 minutes. It’s now time to loosen the mask with warm water then follow up by washing off with cold water. Pat dry and apply your favorite moisturizer. For best result use ripe papaya and banana.


Papaya and Egg White Face Mask

Egg white is well used in beauty recipes. It tightens skin pores and removes excess sebum from the skin surface. It also does a great job in preventing acne and pimple.

You need:

  • ¼ ripe papaya
  • 1 egg white
  • Blender

Direction: Blend the papaya thoroughly to form a puree. Using a small bowl, whisk egg white in it, until it becomes frothy. Add the papaya puree into egg white and mix thoroughly. Wash your hands and apply the mask on your face. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Loosen the mask with warm water followed by cold water to close the pores.


Papaya and milk cream

Milk contains lactic acid which helps lighten the skin and remedy sunburn or pigments. It also serves as an effective facial cleanser for the face, which will help keep your face fresh and glowing throughout the day. Raw milk contains beta hydroxy acid which is a natural exfoliant that removes dead skin. Milk is also effective in shrinking pores – simply apply milk on your face and neck.

You need:

  • ½ Raw Milk
  • ¼ ripe papaya

Direction: Start by blending your papaya in a blender, then add 1-2 tsp of milk and mix together to form a smooth paste. Wash your hands and do your facial steam. Apply the paste on your face and neck. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes, then wash off warm water, followed by cold water to close the pore. Pat dry


Papaya For Wrinkles:

Papaya can also be used to diminish the appearance of wrinkles and crow’s feet. This is due to the presence of its strong antioxidant. It’s also rich in vitamin C which helps ward off free radicals that damage the skin collagen and elastin.

You need

  • ¼ papaya
  • Olive oil

Directions: You can do this by gently applying raw papaya puree around your eye. Let it sit for about 10 minutes before washing off. Do this daily to get rid of crow’s feet. Alternatively mix 1 tablespoon of ripe papaya puree with few drops of olive oil. Apply this mixture on affected area and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Wash off with cool water and apply your choice of moisturizer.


Papaya For Lightening Unwanted Facial Hair

Most people find facial hair very unattractive, if you are like this, worry no more – the papain enzyme present in raw papaya helps weaken the hair follicles on your face to prevent regrowth.

You need:

  • ½ teaspoon of Turmeric powder
  • ½ cups of raw papaya paste

Direction: Start by making a puree of raw papaya. Add ½ tablespoon of turmeric powder into the puree. Wash your fingers properly and apply the paste on the affected areas. Let it sit for about 20 minute, by then it must have dried. Scrub off the paste and rinse your face with warm water followed by cold water to close your pores. Do this one every week for best results.


Papaya For Heals Cracked Heels

In as much as your foot stays inside your shoes but most times. Many of us just don’t want to see cracked heels. It sometimes causes flaky patches, itchiness, skin peeling and bleeding. It might interest you to know that papaya is an excellent moisturizer and can help remedy cracked and dry heels.

You need:

  • ¼ Papaya
  • Olive oil

Direction: Make puree of papaya by blending it in a blender. Gently apply it on your cleaned heels. Let it sit for about 15 minutes. Now wash off and apply olive oil. Repeat this daily before going to bed. Very soon you will start to see your feet becoming soft and smooth.


Papaya To Controls Dandruff

Papaya contains enzymes that helps prevent build-up of oil and impurities on your scalp. It also play a huge role in the treatment of dandruff. Yogurt’s antibacterial properties fight off dandruff

You need:

  • ½ cups of yogurt
  • ¼ raw papaya

Direction: Make a puree of papaya and add ½ cup of yogurt. Mix thoroughly and apply this mixture on your scalp. Let it sit for about 30 to 40 minutes before washing off with cold water. Finally, shampoo your hair. This remedy should be used once or twice daily for best results.

Alternatively papaya can be used as a hair mask to nourish the hair. To make papaya mask, simply blend one cup of ripe papaya and ripe banana alongside with yogurt and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Apply this to your hair and cover up with shower cap. Leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing off. Use this mask once a week for rapid result.
