I woke up this morning with this annoying cough that wouldn’t just stop. I stretch my hands and reached for my cough syrup, after taking few spoon and waited for a few hours yet the cough didn’t just go away. Then an Idea came to my head, “There must be a juice recipe for this” I went to my book shelve and grabbed my juicing book, turning over the pages looking for that particular juice recipe that will work wonders. I found this particular pineapple juice recipe for cough, I had to send my kid sister to pick up the ingredients, I juiced them all up and took few glasses and after about 30minute the cough went away.
- 1 cup of fresh pineapple juice
- ¼ cup of fresh lemon juice
- 1 piece of ginger (about 3 inches)
- 1 tbsp raw honey
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
Combine all ingredients
Take ¼ cup, 2-3 x/day and repeat recipe daily until cough is gone
Fresh pineapple is rich in bromelain, a group of sulfur-containing proteolytic enzymes that not only aid digestion but can also effectively reduce inflammation and swelling and have even been used experimentally as a an anticancer agent. In clinical human trials, bromelain has demonstrated significant anti-inflammatory effects, reducing swelling in inflammatory conditions like acute sinusitis, sore throat, cough, arthritis, and gout, and speeding recovery from injuries and surgery. It is also an excellent source of trace minerals manganese, which is an essential cofactor in a number of enzymes important in energy production and antioxidant.
Ginger is used to soothe sore throats and reduce coughing, especially those caused by the common cold. In fact,
Lemon juice contains ascorbic acid or vitamin C which supports the immune function and if your cough is caused by a virus or bacteria, it helps your body fight the infection. The acid in the juice also helps clear phlegm in your throat, which can often contribute to a cough.
Raw honey is also a very effective way to soothe a sore throat and can be an effective cough suppressant.
