The untold psoriasis treatment, revealed!

In Home Remedies, Natural Medicine by Marvin Francis

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the skin in which the skin cells proliferate and shed at abnormal rate. Its causes does not originate from the skin but within the intestinal tract. Psoriasis is an ugly disease and can greatly dampen on your self-esteem.

Recently I read about a severe case where a young girl by the name Giorgia Lanuzza was diagnosed with psoriasis at the age of 13 after her father died. I have also witnessed several cases while working alongside with my grandmother in her healing centre.

These events and most inquiries I get most of the times motivated me to do a thorough research on the disease.

Firstly, if you are down with psoriasis, water should be your best friend. Water helps in ridding your body from toxins so they don’t keep pouring out through your skin.

Dr. Pagano strongly recommends you drink six to eight ounces of water and eat a serving or two a day of stewed figs, apples, raisins, apricots, pear, peaches, or prunes because their laxative effect helps clean your bowels.

Many physician will tell you that psoriasis has no cure, but that’s a fat lie. I have followed Dr. Pagano for years now and carefully observed his process. In his words “When you understand the true cause of psoriasis, you will understand that the disease can be cured in a natural way” For more on his process I suggest you buy is bestselling book called Healing Psoriasis: The Natural Alternative Here is a great testimony on Dr. Pagano methods.

According to Dr. Pagano’s research, the treatment lies in avoiding certain foods that contributed to “leaky gut” and taking two natural teas on a daily basis. Trust me on this, if Psoriasis is your major concern, you should by this book.

Here is another comprehensive guide to psoriasis diet by Dr. Pagano you might want to check out. Below are the few compilation of the research I did on psoriasis treatment

In his book he states that the herb slippery elm helps coat the inner lining of the intestinal wall, while promoting healing.

Directions:

Pour ½ teaspoon of slippery elm powder in a cup of warm water, leave it for 15 minutes and stir. Drink afterwards. Don’t eat for the next 10 minutes. Repeat this every day for the next 10 days of the program and every other day. Psoriasis should gradually clear. If you are looking for where to get this, I recommend SLIPPERY ELM from “RELIABLE REMEDIES” or you can save yourself the stress and buy the Psoriasis care kit which contains the slippery elm and yellow saffron

American Yellow Saffron Herbal Tea.

In his book, he states that the American yellow saffron tea helps heal the lining of the intestinal walls as it flushes the liver and kidney of toxins. Here is my recommendation for American yellow saffron tea

Direction

Pour ¼ teaspoon of saffron in a cup, then add boiling water and leave it for about 15 minutes. Drink this 5 days a week till psoriasis clears

PsoriaTrax:

If you ask me to recommend the best shampoo for psoriasis, that will be PsoriaTrax. I will like to call this a fail proof shampoo for psoriasis. My buddy Israel tried it on his psoriasis scalp and the result was just amazing. He couldn’t believe his eyes and immediately rushed down to my house to testify to the product. I was quiet impressed myself, so I decided to do a background search on it. I searched for the product on amazon and discovered it has well enough positive reviews from people who have used it.

  • The active ingredient in PsoriaTrax is coal tar. Coal tar is approved by the FDA for the treatment of psoriasis.
  • Coal tar is a derivative of coal and wood (juniper, pine) and has been used for medicinal purposes for hundreds of years. The properties in coal tar go to work in two ways:
  • Coal tar is thought to naturally inhibit DNA replication of skin cells; slowing down the buildup of excess skin cells, thereby significantly reducing the scaling and thickening of skin.
  • Coal tar breaks down keratin, the protein which is the “building block” for skin structure. This helps the excess skin cells (the dry, scaly patches) on the skin surface to break up and shed more easily.
  • As an added benefit, coal tar offers some anti-itch and anti-inflammatory effects. Generally, the higher the concentration of tar, the more effective the product.

Directions

For Psoriasis patches on skin, apply either formula of PsoriaTrax shampoo to affected areas and rinse off. Use PsoriaTrax Coal Tar Glide throughout the day. It comes in a very portable stick with a unique Glide Head applicator for complete coverage for large and small areas. PsoriaTrax Glide can be applied alone or over a moisturizer.

Coal tar makes skin more sensitive to sunlight, so be sure to use a sunscreen. Tar remains active on the skin for at least 24 hours, and you are at increased risk of sunburn during this period.

Fish oil

The omega-3 content of fish oil or flaxseed oil helps heal the compromised intestinal walls and their possible role in inflammation.

Turn off the Nightshade:

Plants in the nightshade family must be avoided for patient living with psoriasis. It is mandatory that you stay away from these plants if you really want to heal. These plants includes:

  • Tomatoes
  • Peppers (all Capsicum species including bell, hot and pimento peppers and all foods made from these peppers including paprika, cayenne pepper and Tabasco sauce)
  • Eggplant
  • Ground cherries
  • Tomatillos
  • Garden huckleberries
  • Tamarillos
  • Pepinos
  • Naranjillas.

Tomato is the worst of all and should be avoided as much as possible and that includes other tomatoes based food like ketchup and tomato juice. Anything with tomato in it should be avoided

Foods to avoid:

Other foods to avoid for proper healing are shellfish, junk food, fried foods, alcohol, pickled and smoked food, processed food, pastries, sodas and saturated fats. Which includes red meat in any form and no products with hydrogenated fat. Instead of cooking with butter or margarine, replace with olive oil

Tea tree oil

The use of tea tree as a treatment of psoriasis is as old as the hills. My grandmother was a herbalist and I can remember her recommending tea tree remedy to most of her patients suffering from psoriasis. I must admit that most of the thing I know and write came from the things I learnt from her. My major aim of starting this blog was to share the knowledge to the world. Tea tree oil comes from the leaves of Melaleuca tree, which is native to Australia. The oil is believed to have antiseptic properties. Although my grand mum believes that using tea tree works like an anesthetic, which calms the infected areas while reducing the scratching. She told me that tea tree penetrates deeply into the skin, which helps diminish the scars caused by psoriasis. On further research I discovered that the oil helps remove dry and dead skin cells causing psoriasis from the body. Applying the oil helps softening the plaques and clear psoriasis problem on the skin. It also contain a compound known as terpinen-4-ol which has potent anti-inflammatory property that helps you get relief from psoriasis. Below is the step by step guide to remedy psoriasis as learnt from my grandmother. I strongly recommend this band

You need this

  • Water
  • Cotton ball

Directions: Pour few drops of tea tree oil into a bowl and add a reasonable amount of water into it. Stir the mixture properly and using the cotton ball to soak a reasonable portion. Apply this to the affected areas and leave it to stay overnight. Wash off in the morning, pat dry your skin and apply your moisturizer of choice. Alternatively you can use the combination of tea tree and olive oil. For this method, mix equal amount of tea tree and olive oil in a small bowl and warm the mixture for few minutes. Apply the warmed oil mixture on the affected areas of the skin. Leave it for a few minutes to dry and then wash it off with water and pat dry the skin.

NB: Try as much as possible to use tea tree in is diluted form. For this remedy to work effectively, endeavour to use the best quality oil, which is cold pressed and organic. I strongly recommend this brand of tea tree.

Aloe Vera

I was dubbed the Aloe Vera specialist by my peers. We had aloe vera plants littered all over our backyard and am the only guy solely responsible for watering and catering for them. Aloe Vera was one of those remedies frequently used in my grandmother’s herbal clinic. My grandmother believed that aloe vera is more effective in minimizing psoriasis severity more than any steroid cream. As a good student I kept a note book by my side, where I jotted down all she taught me. Although she died leaving all her research materials with me, which I promise to find the time to share most of her incredible works here with you. The aloe vera gel contain essential antioxidant and vitamins which helps repair and restore damaged skin cells. The anti-inflammatory property helps soothes inflamed and irritated skin.

Direction: Scrap out the gel from aloe vera and apply it directly on infected skin. Leave it to dry, before washing it off. Repeat this process at least two times a day. Alternatively drink aloe vera juice on an empty stomach early in the morning. If this poses a big deal for you, feel free to blend it with any non-citrus fruit. Another great alternative is to mix aloe vera with baking soda in 2:1 ratio. Apply this mixture on psoriasis and leave it for 10 minutes. Wash with clean water. Repeat this process once a daily .

Capsaicin

Capsaicin is the ingredient in chili peppers that make them hot. A study conducted on forty-four patients with symmetrically distributed psoriatic lesions, where capsaicin was applied to one side of their body and identical-appearing vehicle to the other side, shows that greater overall improvement was observed on sides treated with capsaicin compared to sides treated with vehicle. Researchers from the University Medical Center Freiburg, in Freiburg, Germany, found OTC creams containing capsaicin may help reduce the pain, inflammation, redness and scaling associated with psoriasis. Please not that this should eb applied externally no taken internally

Oat Bath

Oat is considered to be one of nature’s best skin soothers and helps calm and repair dry itchy and inflamed skin. My grandmother always advise her psoriasis patients to soak there self in an oatmeal bath to relieve parched, rough, painful and sore skin. This singular practise also helps remove scales and calms redness

Direction: Pour 1/3 to ¾ cup of oatmeal into a bowl and press down the dry oatmeal with the back of your spoon. This is to get rid of any clump that might have formed in the storage. Then gradually spoon the mixture into a coffee filter bag. Then tie it off with a rubber band, string or ribbon. Fill you tub with relatively amount of hot water. Throw in the oatmeal in the back of the tub, away from the bath end with the running water. Allow to cool. As the tub cools to a tolerable temperature, the heat will cause the essences of oatmeal to disperse. Gently step into the tub when it is tepid, and gradually squeeze the oatmeal sachet to release more of the oatmeal liquid through the bath; be careful not to squeeze too hard, to avoid breaking the sachet. Enjoy your bath and remember not to stay longer than 10 minutes

Vinegar Dip:

This particular remedy is very effective, I have seen it work for a friend of mine living with psoriasis. Its disinfectant property helps soothe the minor burns and other. Hippocrates used vinegar to manage wounds. Vinegar help kill pathogens, including bacteria. It has traditionally been used for cleaning and disinfecting, treating nail fungus, lice, warts and ear infections. If you are looking for the best brand I totally recommend the Bragg Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar

You need:

  • Water
  • Cotton Ball

    Direction:

Pour 1 cup of Apple cider vinegar into a reasonable amount of water to make a vinegar compress. Soak the cotton ball into the mixture and apply it directly on the plaques. Alternatively, you can apply it topically on the affected areas. You can as well mix two table spoon of ACV in a glass of water and drink it every night before going to bed.

Turmeric:

The active ingredient in turmeric is known as curcumin, which is a powerful antioxidant, used in the treatment of various skin diseases like skin cancer, psoriasis, scleroderma and tumors of the skin. Curcumin fights inflammation and protects the body from free radicals. Turmeric also improves collagen deposits and acts as a proangiogenic agent. There are various ways in which turmeric and be used in the treatment of psoriasis.

  • Included in your daily diet
  • Make a paste on turmeric powder and water: My friend Israel normally uses this method. He will mix the powder with a small amount of water or Vaseline and rub it on. I must warn you, doing this might cause tedious work in removing it. Everything you touch will turn yellow and it hardly goes off, sometimes it can take up to four days to come off, Israel can testify to this. To get around this, I suggest you buy powder with the dye removed, such as Indus Organic Turmeric, or get extracts of pure curcumin.
  • Turmeric can be taken as supplement daily: Trust me not everybody is in love with turmeric, if you fall in this category do yourself a favour and go for turmeric supplements. I suggest you go for the Organic Curcumin (Turmeric) with Bioperine from Dr. Daniella. It’s comes in a bottle of 120 capsules, each one containing 500 mg and can last you for 2 months. At the time of this writing it has over 5,621 positive reviews on amazon and currently a best seller in its category.
  • You can as well make a drink of turmeric powder and warm milk or with organic honey.
  • Another great ways is to take it along with ginger provide relief in psoriasis

Castor oil

Castor oil is one of the important oil in the treatment of psoriasis and can help moisturize the skin without any further irritation. Simply take a few drops of castor oil and apply it directly on the affected areas. Leave it overnight. This will help reduce the intensity and psoriasis up to a certain extent. Please try not to apply this on cracked skin.
